Electrical Design, Consultation & Bidding
Before the wiring.
Before the purchase.
Start with a plan.
Not sure what your project needs? Have drawings ready for pricing? Want help thinking through the electrical work before construction begins?
Terrell Electric, LLC offers electrical design work, consultation services, and project bidding for residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, and agricultural applications.
Choose the Right Starting Point
Planning, advice, and pricing
serve different purposes.
The most useful first step depends on what is already known about your project.
“I need to plan the electrical work.”
Electrical design work helps develop the proposed layout and requirements around how you intend to use the property.
Start here when you need to turn an idea, sketch, or building plan into a more clearly defined electrical scope.
“I need help understanding my options.”
Consultation focuses on questions, alternatives, existing conditions, and the decisions ahead.
Start here when you want to discuss an approach before committing to equipment, a layout, or construction.
“I have a project ready for pricing.”
Bidding focuses on pricing a defined scope using available drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
Start here when you have documents to submit or need to discuss what is required for a proposal.
01 / Electrical Design Work
Plan for how the space
will actually be used.
Electrical planning should begin with the people, activities, and equipment the space will support.
Where will you work? What equipment will operate there? How do you want the lighting controlled? What changes might you make later?
Terrell Electric can help develop the electrical layout and proposed scope around your answers. Bring your building plans, room layouts, equipment information, and priorities into the conversation.
Discuss Electrical Design Work02 / Electrical Consultation
Understand the options
before choosing a direction.
Sometimes the most important next step is not installation. It is getting a clearer understanding of the project.
Consultation gives you a way to discuss electrical questions, planned improvements, existing equipment, or competing approaches before deciding how to proceed.
Tell us the decision you are facing. We will discuss the information available and whether a document review, site visit, or additional investigation is appropriate for the request.
Discuss a ConsultationPractical Planning Questions
Small decisions on paper
can shape the finished project.
A useful discussion connects the electrical layout to the way the space will function. Here are examples of questions to bring.
For a Home or Remodel
Where will furniture, appliances, and work surfaces go? Where should lighting be controlled? What future equipment or additions are you considering?
For a Business or Institution
How will each area be used? What equipment is proposed? Who approves the layout, and what access or scheduling requirements affect the work?
For a Facility or Farm
What equipment will operate? Where are work areas and connection points needed? What site conditions and operating schedules must be considered?
03 / Project Bidding
A useful price begins
with a defined scope.
“How much will the electrical work cost?” becomes a more useful question when the work is clearly described.
Terrell Electric welcomes bid invitations and requests for proposals for electrical contracting work. Send the current project documents, requirements, and response deadline.
If you are still developing the project, tell us that as well. An early discussion about possible cost is different from pricing a complete, defined construction scope.

Are the proposals pricing
the same work?
When reviewing proposals, compare the written scope—not only the total. Ask questions where responsibilities, materials, or assumptions are unclear.
Included Work & Exclusions
What is included? What is excluded? Which tasks belong to the owner, another contractor, or the utility? Ask how those responsibilities are identified.
Equipment & Allowances
Are fixtures and equipment selected, owner-furnished, or covered by an allowance? Ask what happens if the selections change.
Conditions & Changes
What existing conditions were assumed? What documents formed the basis of the proposal? Ask how changes or additional work will be addressed.
A clear proposal should help you understand what you are being offered and what still needs to be resolved.
Set Expectations Before Work Begins
Know what you are requesting.
Know what you will receive.
A phone discussion, a consultation, design work, and a construction bid are not interchangeable services.
Before proceeding, discuss the purpose of the engagement, information needed, deliverables, schedule, and any fees. This gives both sides a clearer understanding of the work.
If your project requires sealed drawings, engineering calculations, or a specific professional qualification, identify that requirement at the outset.
Before You Contact Us
Start with the information you have.
Can I call before I have drawings?
Yes. Explain your idea, the property, and the decision you need help making. We can discuss what information is needed to move forward.
Can you review plans I already have?
Send a description of the project and the type of review you are requesting. We will discuss the proposed review scope and the documents involved.
Are consultations and design work free?
Do not assume they are included at no charge. Ask about any consultation, site visit, design, or estimating fees before proceeding.
Can you price a project from a sketch?
A sketch may support an initial discussion. The level of detail determines what can reasonably be included in a pricing request.
What if the plans change?
Tell us which documents changed and provide the current versions. Changes may affect the design work, proposed scope, price, or schedule.
Do you accept contractor bid invitations?
Yes. Send the project documents, scope, instructions, and deadline. Contact us to confirm receipt and discuss the opportunity.
